The Seattle Mariners were an expansion team in 1977. The Mariners are the only American League team never to win a pennant or play in the World Series. The Mariners won the Western Division in 1995, 1997 and 2001. They also qualified for the playoffs in 2000 as the wild card team. The only playoff series victory was when the Mariners defeated the New York Yankees in the Division Series in 1995.
